STRESS, CHAOS AND CHANGE

I don’t know about you, but I am really glad that the month of April is finally over. I thought it would never end. It’s been a month we’ll never forget.

We’ve had enough stress, chaos and change to last a lifetime.

I’ve been working since 1978 and can’t remember anything like what we’ve just experienced. I know that most business folks, especially entrepreneurs, are resilient and will overcome this pandemic and come out on the other side stronger because of it.

I’ve begun to notice that entrepreneurs are being decisive and more focused about what comes next.

They aren’t being wishy-washy or burying their heads in the sand. They are implementing new strategies to keep what business they have and are filling their pipelines with new prospects.

They are doing what they have to in order to protect their businesses, investors and employees. They are doing this faster than ever.

Action taken today make us stronger and more profitable tomorrow. Hope and Pray is not a business strategy. That just makes you crazy.

Remember, the trees we plant today will bear fruit in the future.

What to do right now?

1. Keep what you’ve got. Have you been in touch with all of your clients, customer and patients?

A quick call or a hand-written note will be long remembered after the pandemic passes.

We’re all human and need the interaction. Staying in touch shows that you care and that relationships matter in all businesses.

2. Make sure that you are working on your business not just in your business. Owners need to think like owners – not employees.

It’s time to be proactive and learn new strategies so that when the economy restarts, you’ll come out of the starting gate at full speed. Don’t leave the success of your business to chance.

3. Keep tracking and measuring all of your results. Uncertainty leads to sloppiness and laziness. Don’t lose track of what is going on.

Yes – things are different but there is no reason why you can’t still hold people accountable for their results. Employees working remotely still need supervision.

People are people and most will follow the path of least resistance right to the sofa and Netflix if given the opportunity.

4. It’s all about survival. There will be good days and bad days. Hopefully, more good than bad.

Keep at it and keep moving forward.

More to come…

Bobby
