Are you trying to find your passion in life? If you are, you’re not alone. This is something that lots of folks are trying to do every day. So why is it so difficult to figure out what your true passion is?
First off, it isn’t really that hard to identify what you’re passionate about. One easy way to do this is to ask yourself some questions. Let’s take a look at a few examples here.
What do you do outside of work?
This should give you a good insight of what your hobbies and interests are. Mine are baseball, reading and golf.
What one thing do you do whenever you get the chance?
This will identify those things that you feel more passionate about.
What makes you feel excited?
This is normally associated with those things that you are good at. Think of these as your talents and your gifts.
What makes you feel more confident?
This one is interesting. What makes you feel good? What are the things you know you’re good at? These are things you don’t have to think twice about doing.
What would you do if you weren’t being paid to do it?
I love this one because it really tells everyone what you’re passionate about. You aren’t in it for the money. You truly love what you do and just want to spend your spare time doing it. For me it was umpiring baseball games then when my body said it was time to do something else, I became a coach.
What one thing or item would you like to change in the world?
I had a professor in college who challenged me on this one. We’re all here for a reason. What do you want to do to change the world?
Do you want to design something? Build something? Create a new business? How about teach, be a doctor or nurse.
How you answer this question tells everyone around you what your priorities are.
What do you do in your spare time?
If you’re like most folks, you probably spend your spare time your hobbies or developing one of your talents. You may spend this time writing, creating music or exercising.
What makes you smile?
All the things that make you smile are things that you love and enjoy doing. This isn’t just one thing. I love spending time with my family which includes my wife, 4 children and 8 grandkids.
Spend some time thinking about this list. Write down your answers. What are the things that keep coming up? I mean get repeated over and over. Chances are pretty good that these are your passions.
Your next step is to start making time for these things. You can make the time if you truly want to.
